Blog 3: Naturalization and Constitution

After reading through bits of the Constitution I've decided to talk about the Second Amendment. Probably one of the most argued, fought over, and disliked Amendment because it talks about the Right to Keep and Bare Arms. Along with a well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of the free state.

People have tired for years if not decades to remove this amendment from the constitution which I don't believe that is something our founding fathers would agree with. I do believe that there is a place for this amendment and that it does still serve a purpose in our modern world. People can make arguments that guns kill people, but the reality of it that people always have and always will kill people. They will kill regardless of what tool they want to use to kill someone.

  1. The argument isn't usually about removing the Amendment (though it may seem that way). It's usually about how it's "interpreted." At some point, I think we all agree that there should be a limit to what "arms" any person can have, and that's where it gets tricky.

  2. Well see that's where I struggle with peoples interpretation of the 2nd Amendment specifically people who think guns cause crime or people who would like to limit gun laws.

  3. I agree that guns don't casue crime. However, what about the Trevon Williams case? What if the neighborhood watch guy couldn't legally pack? Would that story have ended differently?

  4. Well I think what happened in this specific incident was a bit of racism and racial profiling. The man should of listened to the 911 operator and instead acted on his own. What he did was wrong and should be tried for his actions. The story could of ended differently, but judgement among other things caused this to end horribly wrong.
